Founding Principles

In this increasingly disconnected world, the bond of community has become more important than ever. Students are returning to DM Flute Studio term after term because it has become for them a community that serves their professional goals.

DM Flute Studio serves students who have reached the end of their formal studies with private teachers or within larger institutions. The program helps bridge the transition from student to thriving professional.

The Studio is also designed to work in concert with, and in support of students’ primary places of learning. With the permission and encouragement of their teachers, students enrolled in DM Flute Studio have a dynamic, collaborative experience that helps them achieve a diversity of career goals.

It is a privilege to have been part of the village of students who have been simultaneously enrolled full time in university and conservatory settings. Graduates from the DM Flute Studio program have found it to be a wonderful and enriching experience.

Studio members have been offered positions in professional orchestras, many have advanced and some named runner up in flute and piccolo auditions. Many have been offered spots with full and partial scholarships to undergraduate and graduate degree programs in flute performance. Several have won major national competitions and been invited to prestigious summer festivals.

There is no greater accolade for DM Flute Studio than the fulfillment of its ultimate goal, to help students achieve that to which they aspire.

A Better Model For Learning

When private lessons are combined with weekly studio classes, a strong emphasis is placed on the art of performance and the development of comfort and ease under pressure. This approach will help accelerate progress with positive results for all students.

Students meet specific goals through a methodical, systematic, and personalized approach. Small class sizes enable individual attention while ensuring the maximum number of performance opportunities.

The online/virtual format allows advanced flutists to join from anywhere, bringing world-class faculty and educational programming directly to you.
